This may be the MOST important class you take all year.

The State of California requires ALL real estate appraisers to complete 1 hour of Cultural Competency and 2 hours of Elimination of Bias training for your four year renewal cycle and REAA has been approved to offer a 3-hour course with both components.

Cultural Competency (1 hour): Addresses the purpose and importance of cultural competency in appraising and how the lack of such competency can impact the valuation process.

Elimination of Bias Training (2 hours): Learn how to recognize explicit and implicit bias in its many forms. Bias can occur even without our knowledge or intention. We'll also cover related housing and lending laws, USPAP, and their role in shaping a non-biased appraisal practice. Register now, and get ahead of the game to ensure that your appraisal methods are current in this new era of professional appraisal practice.

Cost: REAA Members: $50 - Non-REAA Members: $70

Instructor: Amy Parker, Chapter President
Amy Parker serves as the current President of the REAA Sacramento chapter. She specializes in private party residential appraisals and is qualified to testify as an expert witness for federal, state and local courts. Prior to her appraisal career, Amy worked in the private sector as a human resource professional with responsibilities in employee benefits and vocational training. She was tasked with investigating harassment and discrimination employee complaints in a highly culturally and ethnically diverse workforce. Her career in HR helped hone exceptional leadership skills as a trainer in cultural awareness and diversity within a 12-language MCI call center. She’s pleased to combine her current professional appraisal knowledge and prior HR experience to help educate fellow appraisers on this topic.
