This mandated class is required for license renewal. This interactive class will cover a range of topics and discuss how to ensure your appraisal methods meet USPAP and state and federal fair housing laws. We will discuss how unintentional bias can impact your valuation method and research without realizing it. We will discuss different types of bias and how to be aware of them. We will discuss the importance of cultural competency in your interaction with clients, homeowners, and realtors beyond the appraisers' technical expertise. We will have group discussions of case studies that bring the concepts into real life appraisal situations.
Lou Rusert is the current Corporate and North Bay Chapter President of REAA. She has over 32 years of appraisal experience and has developed and taught classes for REAA and in her prior job as VP/Region Appraisal Manager for a lender.
