Course Description
CHANGE IS HERE! IT’S NOT JUST COMING
3 Hours Continuing Education
The appraisal profession is changing quickly. This interactive 3-hour course brings appraisers together for 3 moderated roundtable discussions focused on changes already affecting appraisal practice.
Each session includes a brief presentation followed by an open discussion, giving participants an opportunity to share how they are handling these changes in their own practices, ask questions, and learn from other appraisers.
Roundtable 1: Practical AI Tools for Appraisers
Moderator: Will Cunningham, Certified Residential Appraiser
Explore how current AI tools can assist appraisers with administrative tasks, data entry, analysis, and report development. Discussion will include practical applications, limitations, verification and analysis responsibilities, confidentiality, appropriate guardrails, and disclosure considerations.
Roundtable 2: MLS Changes and How They May Impact Appraisers
Moderators: Dave Fahmer, BAREIS & Erik Kirby, Certified Residential Appraiser
Recent industry and MLS changes are affecting how properties are listed, marketed, and reported. This discussion will examine private networks, buyer and seller representation, MLS reporting changes, “For Comp Purposes Only” listings, and what these changes may mean for appraisers analyzing market exposure and determining whether a transaction reflects the open market.
Roundtable 3: Narrative Report Writing
Moderator: Corina Rollins, Certified Residential Appraiser
As appraisal reporting evolves, narrative reports provide both opportunities and challenges. This session will explore what constitutes a credible narrative appraisal report, how narrative reports differ from traditional form reports, the use of data sources and supporting documentation, and ways existing GP forms may be supplemented for non-lending assignments.
Participants will attend all 3 roundtables, followed by a brief wrap-up with the presenters.
